Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was created in Miami, Florida
on the 30th of November 1977. Steve Aoki is an American electro house artist as
well as record producer, D.J. Music executive. He is the third child of Chizuru
and Rocky Aoki's kids. His father, a former wrestler was also co-founder of the
chain of restaurants Benihana. He has two siblings, sister Kana (who is
sometimes called by her middle name Grace) and brother Kevin (owner of Doraku
Sushi restaurant). Half-sister Devon Aoki is a model and actress. He was born in
Newport Beach, California and graduated from Newport Harbor High School, which
was where he played as a member of the varsity badminton club. He was a student
at UC Santa Barbara and graduated with two B.A. degrees, one in feminist
studies, and the one in sociology. He was a student at the college who made
records on his own and held underground concerts in his Biko space at Santa
Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch was born as a concert
venue. He was active with student activism and created an Revolutionary
Anti-Imperialist League section on campus. By his early 20s, he had built his
own record label, which was called Dim Mak, a reference to his hero from his
childhood, Bruce Lee. The label dropped I'm IN THE HOUSE, a collaboration with the
Zuper Blahq-alter ego of will.i.am. It was ranked the No. 29 in the U.K.
Singles Chart in the very first week of its release. The track climbed to the
top five in both the U.K. Indie Chart and the U.K. Dance Chart. The track was
featured on the MTV series Jersey Shore. It also was featured in Piranha the
feature film Piranha as well as the trailer for Think Like A Man. Producer and
songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a interview with HitQuarters that he
& Rivers Cuomo had recently worked w/ Aoki on the single. Pollstar
declared him the top-grossing North America dance artist from performances in
2012. He has worked with artists like Iggy Azalea, Afrojack, LMFAO, Linkin
Park, Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis Tomlinson, Rise
Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He's known for remixes of artists
like Kid Cudi
