Britney Jean Spears

Britney Jean Sparrow was born in McComb (Mississippi) on December 2, 1981 and raised in Kentwood (Louisiana). Britney took dance classes when she was a child and was an excellent gymnast, winning many contests. However, the most important thing was, Britney loved to sing. At age 8 Britney tried out for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) but was turned down because of her age. Britney was then referred to Broadway's off-Broadway show "Ruthless" in which she performed in the title role for two years. The show was re-run in The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) but which time, she played the mouseketeer. In the mid 90s, Britney signed with Jive Recording Artist. With the release of her debut album"Baby One More Time" "...Baby One More Time" in the early part of 1999, Britney became a global hit, selling 13 million copies of "Baby" and 9 million (as of July 2001) of her second album "Oops !...I Did It Again" which was released in May 2000. Britney was the daughter of Lynne Spears and Jamie Spears. She has a big brother Bryan Spears and a little sister Jamie Lynn Spears. Britney was always destined to be a star from a young age. Britney loved singing and was inspired by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Britney was a candidate for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989-1994) on television when she was just 8. However, she was too young for the part. Britney moved to New York with her mother and infant sibling. She appeared in a variety of TV advertisements and also served as the understudy of Natalie Portman in "Ruthless" off-Broadway. The love for dance and music took over and two years later, she auditioned again for a part on "Mickey Mouse" again, and this time, she was awarded the part with Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
