Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was a child of British parents Jacqueline Luesby, a lawyer and Chris Watson, a teacher from Paris, France. When she was five, she relocated to Oxfordshire and was a student at the Dragon School. Emma realized when she was just six that she wanted to become an actor. Over the course of several years, she studied at the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and was taught dancing, singing, acting and much more. By the age of 10, she had appeared and acted as the lead in a variety of Stagecoach productions and school plays. The casting process began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (192001), the film adaptation J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novel. Emma was approached by casting agents by her Oxford theatre instructor. After eight auditions consistently, producer David Heyman told Emma and the other candidates, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, that they were selected to play the three leads: Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the screen came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was the top-grossing feature of 2001, smashing records in terms of opening-day sales as well as opening-weekend performances. Critics praised the film and the performances of the three young actors who were the most prominent. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper with a large circulation, praised her performance as "admirable". In the following days, Emma was nominated for five awards for her performance in the film. She won the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in an feature Film. Emma was among the most well-known actresses following the movie's success. In the ten years that followed, she was the part of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma was nominated for two Critics Choice Awards by the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
